My new year’s resolutions in one picture: take me to the future, love, and anchor me to the past, anchor me to what we lived and … Continue reading Take me to the future like if we were in the past…
We are approaching the end of the year. In good EU fashion, we shall undertake a stock-taking exercise and draw some conclusions, because apparently that’s what we do all the time! The parts written by Francesco are in Italics Wedding … Continue reading Takeaways from 2017
By Francesco (and his terrible English) It is strange to use a common blog to support each other, but since we are not in the same place, I’ll do it anyway. There are ups and downs in life. That’s a fact and we cannot ignore them. The only thing one can do in these times is to bite the bullet and get through it. And you, Chiara, you do it. You are the strongest and thoughest woman I’ve ever met and your resilience is inspiring. I know it is not easy, but if it were easy, you wouldn’t do it, … Continue reading To my wonderful wonderful wife
I am in Strasbourg for the Plenary of the European Parliament. I have been travelling for a while now, and will be doing some more travelling soon. While I am beyond grateful to be here, to be a part of this and to be living the dream in a much better way than I ever pictured for myself, I am also missing two of the most important people in my life: my beautiful, beautiful sisters! So here is a little #tbt to the second-to-last day before I got married, when my sisters and I took a nice walk in Val … Continue reading Throwback Thursday!
A year ago my husband asked me to marry him. I cannot really explain how that memory will forever be truly special. I guess it was so heartfelt and so natural and spontaneous. Francesco’s proposal perfectly, magically embodied who we are. We are down to earth, and so incredibly in love. It was a Sunday in September. I was working and he had just taken part in a 60+ k trail run in the Dolomites the day before and was about to leave on an airplane (see: I’m leaving on a jet plane…) He woke up before dawn and had … Continue reading He asked… one year ago
It took a while and a couple of “Oh-God-where-is-that-Lego-block”-moments, but we assembled one of the cutest gifts we got at our wedding: thank you Mario and Fredrikke! 🙂 Continue reading Wedding gift assembled!
We’ve made it! Our last flight for the summer is over and we are finally home. And we are both so, so happy. We have absorbed, enjoyed and made the most of all the love we have been surrounded by and showered with and we have now made it home again, after a little more than a month. It feels good to be home and to be able to spend some time with each other. To go back to all the old habits, but with a new role and a new awareness. To go get groceries together, cook for each … Continue reading Coming home as husband and wife
Wedding: #tbt My wedding day was perfect, because I knew it would be. I was going to marry the man of my dreams, my one love, The One. What could go wrong, as long as we were husband and wife at the end of the day? That said, any wedding can prove tricky. I had been told that there would be glitches, but I didn’t believe them. My wedding would just be perfect. And it was! But we did have glitches. So here comes my very personal list in 6 points (plus 1) on how to survive on that very … Continue reading Throwback Thursday
We did it! You will have to wait to have a full race recap, but for now I will just let you know that we did it, we are back in one piece and we are really proud of what we did together. We woke up at 2.45 am and it was not raining. The sky was full of stars! I knew it was going to be a good day. By the time the race started, at 4.30 am, we were ready. After the first, super technical stretch in the forest – it was pitch black but my headlight did … Continue reading Race recap!
Disclaimer: this is going to be a monster post, but I promise to keep the next ones shorter! Despite an administrative problem, a ribbon that wouldn’t be undone by our best man when we had to exchange rings, the worst nightmare of all – an accident with my wedding dress involving an aunt stepping onto it and tearing it apart, albeit in a non-visible way –, and a wasp that somehow managed to find her way inside my bodice and sting me twice on my tummy, we pulled it off. We are husband and wife! Our wedding day was, … Continue reading Wedding day report
